US Election 2024-The Daily Rundown

Super Tuesday did not quite live up to its name.

President Joe Biden won the states he needed to win and so did his predecessor, Donald Trump.

Trump's march to a third Republican presidential nomination was largely unimpeded by his principal challenger, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who will suspend her presidential campaign today.

Haley's strong showing in vote-rich suburbs highlighted a potential problem in the long term for Trump.

In Hawaii, Democrats are holding a presidential preference vote today as President Joe Biden moves closer to securing the delegates needed to clinch nomination for a second term in the White House.

Biden is appearing on the ballot with U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota, self-help author Marianne Williamson and two lesser-known candidates.

Voters also have the option to select "Uncommitted." Hawaii Republicans will hold their caucuses on March 12.
