Funeral services for Vickie Rhoades will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Crysel and Rev. John Clapp officiating. Interment will follow at the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home. There will be a visitation with family present 9-11 a.m. Thursday morning.

Vickie Rhoades, daughter of the late Victor Aldof and Edna (Christiansen) Benning, was born July 9, 1943, at Worthington, Minnesota, and passed away surrounded by her family, on March 25, 2024, at her home at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 16 days.

She was raised in Minnesota where she graduated from Sauk Rapids High School. She eventually moved to Hardtner where she raised her daughters Shelly, Leslie and Cheryl. She worked many years at the Achenbach Facility in the maintenance department. She later moved to Alva and worked at WalMart for many years. Vickie enjoyed sewing and was a collector of salt and pepper shakers and Christmas Santas.


Besides her parents, Victor and Edna, she was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Almer.

Vickie is survived by her daughters, Michelle "Shelly" Stephens (of Alva), Leslie Crysel and husband Mike (of Pitkin, Louisiana) and Cheryl Jackson and husband Bud (of Carmen); her brothers, Allen Benning and wife Cheryl (of Minnesota), Floyd Benning and wife Deb (of Florida), Monte Benning and wife Penny (of Minnesota) and Steve Benning (of Maine); and her sisters Delores Storms (of Minnesota), Susan Carmichael (of Arizona) and Joyce Larsen (of Minnesota).

Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Dusty Stephens (of Alva), Mandy McCamey and husband Brandon (of Dacoma), Kristy Lee and husband Cody (of Alva), Colby Crysel (of Geismar, Louisiana), Morgan Roberts and husband Colt (of Watson, Louisiana), Kaleb Crysel and wife Langley (of Baton Rouge, Louisiana), Haley Fowler and husband Michael (of Alva), Jessica Jackson (of Carmen) and Dustin Jackson and wife Ashley (of Cherokee); 13 great-grandchildren, Blakely and Anderson McCamey; Harper and Teagan Lee; Maize Roberts, Kyler, Jazzlynn and Makena Fowler; Aiden Davis; Jack Barker; Gavin Stacey and Oden and Maggie Jackson; one great-grandchild due in a few months; other relatives and friends.


Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Bible Baptist Church.
