OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 30, 2016) — Southern Nazarene got an early start on the 2016-17 dual season, as the Crimson Storm hosted Missouri Western State.
SNU fell 5-4, but picked up a win at No. 1 doubles and won three singles matches.
The Crimson Storm fell behind 1-0 after Judit Mas and Taylor Sullivan lost, 8-4, at No. 3 doubles, but SNU tied it up at 1-1 after Polina Chala and Noelia Gomez won 8-3 at No. 1. Anna Garcia and Dragana Samardzic led 4-1 and 5-2 at No. 2, but fell 9-7 as the Griffons took a 2-1 lead heading into singles.
In singles, Chala made quick work at No. 1 as she won 6-1, 6-0. Gomez won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 and Samardzic won 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, at No. 4.
Garcia lost, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3. Mas won her first set 6-2, but dropped the next two, 6-2, 6-0. Trista LeGrande also lost 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6.
