Tigers defeat Blossoms 3-1

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers' volleyball team defeated the University of Arkansas at Monticello Blossoms by a final of 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 25-15). Ouachita's Caitlin Cantrell finished with a team-high 15 kills and Kori Bullard added 11 kills and seven blocks. Setter Stormi Leonard finished with 42 assists and 12 digs, her 13th double-double of the season. Libero Ashley Wake registered 30 digs in the win. The victory marks the first 20-win season for head coach Danny Prescott.

Ouachita and Arkansas-Monticello went back and forth in the first two sets with neither team gaining more than a four-point advantage. Caitlin Cantrell and Ashlie Dintleman led the Tiger attack in set one, registering five and four kills respectively. The Tigers made five costly serving errors in the second set, allowing the Blossoms to steal it away by a two-point margin.

The Tigers offense was locked-in for set three, swinging at .289 percent and committing only three errors on 38 attacks. Cantrell and Kori Bullard notched nine combined kills with only one error on 14 attacks. Ashley recorded a set-high 10 digs. In the fourth and final set, Bullard opened with two of her seven blocks to put the Tigers up early The Tigers hit for .296 in the set, led once again by Cantrell who committed no attack errors in the final three sets and only one in the entire match. Ouachita would close out the final set by a 10-point margin, with the match point coming off a kill by Katie Camp.

The Tigers will travel to Magnolia next Tuesday, Nov. 8, to face SAU before returning home on Nov. 11 to close out the regular season against Arkansas Tech.
