Lady Tigers fall in Durant, 70-66

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Lady Tigers' women's basketball team was defeated by Southeastern Oklahoma State by a final score of 70-66. Ouachita held a lead for the majority of the second half, but fell behind with just under two minutes remaining in the competition. The Lady Tigers were led offensively by Kori Bullard. The junior had 18 points and six rebounds in 28 minutes of play. The loss was the Lady Tigers' first conference loss of the season and dropped their record to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Ouachita fell behind early in the game and trailed by eight points at the end of the first quarter, however the Lady Tigers went on a second quarter run which led to a four-point halftime lead. The run began with just over eight minutes remaining in the quarter when Bria Caldwell hit two free-throws. The Lady Tigers outscored the Savage Storm by a margin of 14-2 over the next five minutes to lead 22-17. Ouachita first took the lead with just under five minutes remaining when Alivia Huellconverted a fast break layup to make the score 19-17. Southeastern briefly recaptured the lead during the final moments of the first half, but the Lady Tigers took it back after an Alivia Huell jump shot. Bria Caldwell extended the halftime lead to four with three free-throws as time expired.

The first three minutes of the second half saw four lead changes, but the chaos was put to rest with just over seven minutes remaining when Alivia Huell hit a three-point jump shot to give the Lady Tigers the lead. Ouachita held a slim lead for the remainder of the third quarter and for the majority of the fourth until Southeastern hit a jump shot with 1:41 remaining in the game. Southeastern converted their late free-throws and won the game 70-66.

The Lady Tigers were led offensively by Bullard, who had 18 points. Alivia Huell had 14 points, while Bria Caldwell contributed with 11. Huell also led the team with eight rebounds.

The Lady Tigers next game will occur on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m. They will travel to Ada, Okla. to face off against East Central University.
