Bulldogs Beat Randall for Fourth-Straight Win

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Reshardd Harris, Devin Pugh, and Markeise Champion all scored season highs in points as SWOSU defeated Randall 91-83 Saturday afternoon to win their fourth-straight game of the season.

After taking nearly three weeks off from outside competition, the Bulldogs hosted Randall University in a non-conference matchup. Prior to Christmas Break, SWOSU collected consecutive wins over Southern Arkansas, Cameron, and Panhandle State to improve their record to 3-6 heading into Saturday's game.

Trailing by one to the Saints at halftime, the Dawgs shot 70% (21-of-30) from the field in the second twenty-minute session to explode for 61 points in the half. SWOSU opened up on a 9-0 run to build an eight-point lead with 18:00 remaining in the game. It was that opening run that allowed the Bulldogs to have breathing room throughout, as Randall was able to cut the margin to as few as four points on two occasions but were never able to climb out of the hole that was created after SWOSU would answer with a bucket to stop the momentum.

Harris posted his third double-double of the season after scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Pugh shot 75% from the floor on 9-of-12 attempts including 4-for-6 from long range and added 22 points to the scoresheet while Champion scored 21 points including a team best 7-of-8 (88%) performance from the free-throw line.

"Give Randall credit they are well coached and have a great chance to win a second National Christian Association title," Head Coach Bob Battisti said. "I thought Reshardd's energy in both halves and Pugh's shot making ability were huge plusses for us this afternoon. Markeise found himself after halftime and gave us a big lift in the second half. Our guys keep improving and we're looking forward to the remainder of the GAC schedule."

The Dawgs (4-6, 1-3 GAC) will turn their focus back onto Great American Conference play and will travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas on Thursday, January 5 to take on Henderson State before facing Ouachita Baptist two days later.
