Tigers fall to 11th-ranked Tarleton State

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers men's basketball team were defeated by #11 Tarleton State by a final of 87-68 in Stephenville, Texas on Saturday. Ouachita was led by Lakee Westbrook's 15 points. The Tigers drop to 4-4 on the season.

Ouachita shot well in the first half, going 14-28 from the floor. Jontavis Willis was the Tigers leading scorer in the first half, netting seven points on 3-4 shooting, Carven Holcolmbe followed with six, shooting a perfect 3-3 from the floor. The Tigers built a six-point lead in the first half when Willis knocked down a jumper with 5:21 remaining. Tarleton State responded with a 15-5 run to close out the period and take a 37-33 lead into halftime.

Early shooting woes plagued Ouachita in the second period. The Tigers were outscored 15-6 to open the second and they trailed 52-39 at the first media timeout. The Tigers couldn't buy a bucket over the next ten minutes and found themselves trailing by 35 with just over five minutes remaining. A three by Westbrook broke a five minute scoring drought for Ouachita and the Tigers closed out the second game with a 23-7 run. Westbrook scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half, including the final four points of the game.
