Reddies fall to Southeastern 81-65

ARKADELPHIA, AR - Hailey Estes had 19 points and 8 rebounds but Southeastern Oklahoma used a big run in the second half to defeat Henderson State 81-65 on Thursday night in the Duke Wells Center.

The Reddies got off to a good start behind 12 first quarter points from Estes and finished the first period up 26-20. The Savage Storm used three 3-pointers to cut into the lead in the second, but HSU maintained their advantage into the break, taking a 41-37 lead at the half.

Henderson came out of the locker room and extended their four point lead out to 12 with a quick 10-2 run to make it 51-39 with 7:53 remaining in the third quarter.

At that point the tide turned towards the Savage Storm, who responded to the Reddies' spurt in force, erasing the lead with a 19-7 run of their own to take a one point lead into the final period, 58-57. In the fourth SOSU only extended their lead, outscoring HSU 23-12 in the last quarter to win it 81-65.

Estes led the Reddies with 19 points and 8 boards, while Blue Jones added 11 points and Haleigh Henson chipped in 10. Henderson, who came into the game second in the GAC in made 3-pointers, struggled from behind the arc, hitting just 3-of-16 in the second half and only 21 percent for the game. The Reddies managed just 14 points in the final 17:43 as the Savage Storm went on a 42-14 run to finish the game. The loss drops Henderson to 7-7 in the GAC on the year.

The Reddies' next game is Saturday at 1 p.m. against East Central in the Duke Wells Center.
