BIG SCORING NIGHT LEADS TECH PAST SWOSU

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Kelsey McClure turned in a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double, leading six Arkansas Tech Golden Suns basketball players in double figures as the Suns (22-6) advanced to the Great American Conference championship game with a 96-60 win over Southwestern Oklahoma (20-10) on Saturday in the semifinals of the Great American Conference championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After SWOSU hit the first basket of the game, Tech went on a 20-1 run to open up a 20-3 lead with 5:18 to play in the opening quarter.

SWOSU was able to narrow the deficit to ten (25-15) with 2:18 to play in the opening quarter, but Tech stretched its lead back to 12 (29-17) after one.

The defenses took control in the second quarter. SWOSU cut Tech's lead into single digits (29-20) three minutes into the second, but the Golden Suns pushed ahead and took an 18-point (44-26) halftime lead.

The second half saw more of the same as Arkansas Tech outscored SWOSU 15-4 over the first 5:30 of the second half to claim a 31-point (61-30) lead.

Tech led by as many as 41 points (92-51) in the second half.

NOTABLES

Joining McClure in double figures were Danielle Frachiseur (16 points, eight rebounds), Anissa Pounds (15 points, eight assists), D'Rae Tullock (13 points, seven rebounds), Calli White (11 points), and Cheyenne North (10 points, nine rebounds).

Tech held a 53-26 advantage on the rebounding glass, including an 18-2 advantage on the offensive glass.

Tech outshot SWOSU 48.8 to 31.4 percent.

The Golden Suns held a 62-24 advantage in points in the paint, a 23-6 advantage in points off turnovers, a 23-0 advantage in second-chance points, and an 18-3 advantage in fast-break points.
