UAMSOFTBALL SWEEPS DAY TWO AGAINST SOUTHERN NAZARENE

BETHANY, Oklahoma — The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team swept the second day in Bethany against Southern Nazarene for the 3-1 series win by final scores of 7-4, and 10-1.

The first game of the afternoon for UAM (12-6, 6-2 GAC) saw the Blossoms trailing Southern Nazarene after the first inning of play 3-0, but a second inning Ashton Currey home-run sparked the offense for Arkansas-Monticello.

A RBI single by Meagan Duchesne, and a RBI triple from Jordan Herbner aided UAM in taking the lead at 4-3. The following inning saw solo home-runs from Kendra Coleman and Maranda Clendenin, which gave the Blossoms the 6-3 advantage. After surrendering one run in the bottom of the fifth, Duchesne singled to right field giving Arkansas-Monticello a 7-4 lead which was enough to seal the road victory.

Kendra Coleman (8-1) recorded her eighth win of the year throwing a complete gave of 7.0 innings and struck out seven total batters in the contest.

Game number two for the Blossoms saw the offensive attack of UAM take off with three first inning runs, curtsey of a Korie Parker double to left center and a Kendra Colman home-run to left field.

Both Duchesne, and Currey recorded home-runs in this second match-up as well, and Arkansas-Monticello claimed the series win with a 10-1 victory over the Crimson Storm.

Maylie Bain (4-1) threw a complete game of 5.0 innings in the game, only allowing three hits and struck out one.

Arkansas-Monticello will return to the field next on Friday, March 10 as UAM will play its home opener against Great American Conference opponent Oklahoma Baptist with game one set to start at 1 p.m. as part of a doubleheader in Monticello.
