The next best thing to camp is vacation Bible school

Jaylyn and company made it back safely from the Bible Baptist Church Camp out in the Panhandle at Black Mesa. Several young people were saved, with the only downside being one girl broke her arm. The Sunday after camp is cool. We get to hear their camp memories and hear the camp songs they learned. I hope your kids get to attend camp somewhere.

Most churches have a Bible school week, so please look into sending your kids to one (or more). Camp Discovery (Bible Baptist VBS) is July 24 to 28 from 6:30 to 8:30. It is open to pre K through fall fifth graders. You can pick up information cards at the church, Fourth and Choctaw, or call me at 580-327-1313 and I will be happy to bring you a card. Wherever you send your kids for VBS, they will have a blast, have an opportunity to get closer to God and you can get a brief rest yourself. If you feel a bit slighted because the kids have VBS, we have it every Sunday. It is called Sunday school and is a good adult time. The church members go once a month to alternating rest homes to sing and have fellowship with the members. I had gone to Beadles Nursing Home with them once a while back. Everyone left at 7 and I didn't escape until after 9:30, because I found so many friends to visit with.

I went to Share Convalescent Home on Monday to sing and, unknown to me, it had been canceled and no it wasn't because they were scared to hear me sing! I still found several old friends to visit with. My friend Harry Fisher still has his handlebar mustache and looks like Wyatt Earp. When people ask how I am doing I usually reply, “I was better once, but I'm getting over it.” I borrowed this saying from Harry about 30 years ago. Thanks, friend.

I was really troubled when I read the tourism board gave away over $50,000 to an out-of-town company to promote tourism and events for our town. I thought we already were paying a couple of people to do that. I guess all we can do now is watch it for a year and see if anything happens like they predict.

The guys out on east Flynn are missing the boat with their great big dog in front of their business. He is very noticeable, but with a voice activated Bark-Bark-Bark-Bark for passersby would put him over the top on neat toys.
