Soccer Falls to Harding in Overtime

ADA – Despite falling to Harding 1-0 in overtime, the East Central University soccer team secured the final spot in the 2017 Great American Conference Championship on Senior Day.

The Tigers (6-7-4, 3-4-4 GAC) finished fourth in the GAC standings after a loss by Northwestern Oklahoma State and ECU will not have to play the if necessary match against Southern Nazarene that was scheduled for Monday, Oct. 30.

ECU kept the match scoreless through regulation, besides being out-shot 21-10. Sophomore Alexis Castillo led the Tigers with two shots on goal, while sophomores Alyssa Butler and Lizette Carreon each added one. Junior Chloe Hull garnered seven saves.

After regulation was over the teams got just over three minutes into overtime when the Bisons (7-8-3, 6-5-1 GAC) got the golden goal to earn the 1-0 win (93:34).

ECU will now get ready to face host Oklahoma Baptist in the first round of the GAC Championship, Thursday, Nov. 3.
