Lady Rangers get season underway with exhibition match-up in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State women's basketball team opened their season in an exhibition match-up against Division I foe Oral Roberts University and were defeated by a final score of 109-60.

Guard Jade Jones began her Ranger career in style with 21 points as the Rangers struggled to get going early. Senior Kori Barrios also reached double digit scoring, posting 10 points while hitting 2-of-4 from behind the three-point line.

The Rangers shot just 27 percent from the field on 17-of-63 shooting while the Golden Eagles shot 56 percent on 40-of-71 shots. The Lady Rangers got down to an early 35-18 deficit in the first quarter and were unable to slow down the Oral Roberts attack throughout the contest.

A 61-31 advantage at the half for Oral Roberts kept the momentum in their favor as they cruised throughout the second half as head coach Tasha Diesselhorst got many new faces into game action. Five new faces for Northwestern got their first points in the Black and Red, as the young squad battled all the way until the end and will look to truly get things underway next weekend against Division II competition.
