Johnson County Community College hires president

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) — Despite disruptions caused by the coronavirus, Johnson County Community College has hired a new president.

The college's Board of Trustees on Thursday selected Andrew Bowne, who is currently senior vice president of Indiana's 18-campus community college system. He will become president in July.

Most of the board members joined the meeting remotely, with only board chairman Greg Musil and retiring college President Joe Sopcich in the room for the meeting, which was live-streamed for the public, The Kansas City Star reported.
