NANCY LEE JACKSON SMITH

Funeral services for Nancy Lee Jackson Smith were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Alva Wesleyan Church with Pastor Paul Kirk officiating. Interment followed in the Preston Hill Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Nancy Lee Jackson Smith, daughter of the late Clayton Weldon and Leona Faye (Weir) Jackson, was born September 4, 1945, in Salina, Kansas, and passed away May 8, 2024, in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 4 days.

Nancy grew up in Alva and graduated from Alva High School with the Class of 1963. She then obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees from NWOSU and taught high school English. On July 14, 1989, she was united in marriage to Glen Allen Smith in Carmen, Oklahoma. They lived in Carmen until moving to Alva 12 years ago.

She was a member of the Alva Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed playing cards, but the most important parts of her life were her family and her grandkids.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Russell Glen Smith, in 2007; and three grandchildren, Sunny, Aaron and Tassy.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Glen; her children, Dale Lynn Frey and wife Melinda Irwin (of Oklahoma City), Dana Lee Coleman and husband Martin (of Woodward), Dian Linnea Frey Schiska and husband Brad (of Carmen), Debra Ann Brown (of Booker, Texas), and Ann Smith Becker (of Woodward); and her daughter-in-law, Donna Shive-Jordan and husband Randy (of Tulsa). She is also survived by 20 grandchildren: Chelsey, Shaley, Ashley, Leah, Rachel, Jarrod, Jeremy, Kathryn, Jacie, Tasha, Tali, Tiana, Bradley, Kirsten, Shelby, Cameron, Autumn, Danny, Melissa and Cory; numerous great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alva Wesleyan Children's Program.
