SCHOOL CHILDREN HAVE FUN LEARNING EARLY-DAY KIOWA FACTS AND ABOUT THE GREAT LAND RUN OF 1893 – Children from South Barber Elementary School in Kiowa, Kansas, take an outing during school to learn about Kiowa's early days and the Great Land Run of 1893. Kiowa woman De Coyle researched fun facts about those early days and put them on posters. She displayed them beside the Great Land Run of 1893 bronze statue placed at the corner of Fourth and Main streets in Kiowa. The statue was a gift to the city donated by Cecil "Junior" Tucker and his wife, Verna. The elementary kids enjoy taking turns and reading aloud the fun facts on the posters. Children shown are: (from left) Tate Dunn, Devin Olson, Laurn Cropp, Gabe Maas, Abigail Bryan, Kevin Mendoza, Rosalyn Fox, Candace MacKinney, Lyndsay Cropp, Aden Courson, Alyssa Sciara, Mrs. Ricke and Aimee Bryan.
