HORSESHOE BAY, Texas (Nov. 1, 2016) – A frustrating fall men's golf season ended Tuesday for Oklahoma Christian with a 16th-place finish in the Golfweek Division II Fall Invitational at Apple Rock Golf Course.

OC's 323 team score on Tuesday was its highest in the three-round tournament and dropped the Eagles five spots in the 18-team field. With a three-round score of 944, OC finished 73 shots behind the winner, West Florida, a team the Eagles were paired with last May during the NCAA Division II Championship in Denver.

The Golfweek tournament field was one of the toughest in Division II, featuring 18 of the division's top teams, including six that made the national tournament this past spring.

OC's top individual finisher was sophomore Alejandro Valenzuela, who placed 30th in the 90-man field at 226 after a final-round 7-over-par 79 on the 6,908-yard course, on which the Eagles played last April in the Heartland Conference Championship.

Junior Zac Schaefer fired a final-round 83 and tied for 52nd at 237. One shot behind him was sophomore Juan Pallach, who tied for 54th after shooting an 81 on Tuesday.

Freshman Michael Robinson's 80 left him at 243 for the tournament, tied for 71st, and sophomore Manuel Hernandez finished 85th at 260 after a final-round 86.

West Florida's Chandler Blanchet finished at 13-under 203 to win the individual title by seven shots over Eliott Azoulay of St. Edward's (Texas).

OC will announce its spring golf schedule later this month.
