AHS athletes compete at state cross country competition

Senior Noah Place placed seventh overall, junior RayRay Bell placed 15th overall, and sophomore Priscilla Samaniego and freshman Mia Walker ran season best times at the state cross country meet on Oct. 22.

On Oct. 22, the state cross country competition was held in Tulsa. Four athletes from Alva competed. Senior Noah Place represented the boys, and junior RayRay Bell, sophomore Priscilla Samaniego, and freshman Mia Walker represented the girls.

This year is the first time Alva High School has had a cross-country team in many years. To have half of the team qualify for the state competition is a significant accomplishment.

"For this being our first year, taking half of our team to state is a pretty remarkable thing. I cannot take any credit for any of this; all of those athletes have worked hard...
