Hamilton fills Ward 3 city council position

The Alva City Council is back up to seven members with the appointment of Mary Hamilton to fill the unexpired Ward 3, Seat 2 position. That spot was left vacant when longtime council member Wes Miller resigned due to moving out of state. Hamilton was sworn in Monday, Nov. 7, during the regular meeting.

Mayor Kelly Parker was a little late to the meeting due to a conflicting commitment. The vote on Hamilton's appointment was delayed until he could be present. He arrived following reports on earlier meetings, the city manager's report and two votes on changes to the employee retirement fund. Cou...
