Isn’t it amazing how differently we see things, sometimes? As a final group project in our Philosophy and Life class, we watched one of those compilation videos that airs 100 songs in about 15 minutes. This particular version showed the “most popular” songs for the years 2000 through 2013; the time span when most of my current students were growing up. As each song was presented, the students were asked to put a “1” next to the title if they really liked the song, a “2” if they were neutral and a “3” if they really despised the selection. We were demonstrating how personal taste affects art.
