Storm fall in final non-conference match up of season

BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene shot just 31.9 percent from the field and 19.0 percent from 3-point range in a 83-60 loss to Central Oklahoma.
The Crimson Storm (3-5, 0-4 GAC) fell behind early in the first quarter as the Bronchos (10-0) opened the game 7-0 run and later pushed that lead to nine points after a UCO 3-pointer. The Storm closed the first quarter on a 15-11 run capped by an Abby Boyd 3-pointer to put the score at 24-19.
Central Oklahoma extended their lead to 19-points as they opened the second quarter on a 16-2 run. SNU would go on to score the final four points of the half, putting the score at 40-25.
Southern Nazarene shot 25.0 percent on 8-of-32 shooting, while Central Oklahoma shot 33.3 percent on 15-of-45 shooting. The Bronchos controlled the paint in the first half as they out rebounded SNU 34-21 and out scored the Storm 20-8 in points in the paint.
The third quarter proved to be critical, as SNU went cold from the field for the quarter. The Storm were outscored 24-16 in the third as they shot just 7-of-21 from the field and 0-of-2 from long range. By the end of the period, SNU trailed 64-41.
Southern Nazarene attempted to come back during the fourth but couldn't catch the Bronchos as the fourth quarter score was 19-19. Central Oklahoma's size proved to be a difference maker as they were able to finish the game winning the rebounding battle 56-39 and also outscoring the Storm 40-26 in the paint.
Boyd led the Crimson Storm in scoring on the night as she registered 11 points, to go along side three assists and three rebounds. Calle Mason tallied 10 points and three rebounds to go along with a block and a steal. Rachel Doerneman was the only other SNU player in double-digits scoring, as she finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and two blocks.
