Women's Basketball Prepares to Welcome Southeastern

Setting the Scene

- The Lady Bulldogs will look to refocus against Southeastern on Wednesday after a lackluster first three quarters costed them a rivalry win against Northwestern on Monday night in Alva

- The game against the Savage Storm will mark the first conference game at home SWOSU has played since returning from Christmas Break after having their bout with Southern Nazarene last Saturday cancelled due to weather

- The Lady Bulldogs are a perfect 4-0 at home this season with two conference wins and two non-conference wins to their credit in Weatherford

- Since the GAC has been formed, SWOSU is a perfect 5-0 against SE in Weatherford with three of the five contests being decided by six points or less

- The game will mark the first contest the Lady Dawgs have played this season on a Wednesday

The Opponent

Southeastern Okla. St. (6-3, 8-5 GAC)

- Eight games into the GAC schedule, the Savage Storm sit a half-game ahead of the Lady Bulldogs with an extra win under their belt at 6-3 which puts them in fourth place in the league

- SE is now on a three-game winning streak after already beating in-state conference foes Oklahoma Baptist, Northwestern and East Central

- SE is led by Olivia Potter, a one-time GAC Player of the Week back on Nov. 21, averaging 14.5 points per game and is shooting nearly 38% from beyond the arc

The Coaches

SWOSU: Kelsi Musick (119-96, 8th season)

- Two-time GAC Coach of the Year, winning back-to-back honors for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons and she has led the Lady Bulldogs to three 20-win seasons

- Musick has coached one All-American and 15 All-GAC selections, including one Player of the Year (Darcie Dick, 2012) and one Freshman of the Year (Hailey Tucker, 2016)

- Musick has led SWOSU to the GAC Tournament Championship games with two GAC Tournament Championships (2012, 2014) and two NCAA Division II Tournament appearances (2013, 2014) to her credit

- In eight seasons at SWOSU, Musick has a career record of 119-95, including a mark of 8-4 against SE

Southeastern Okla. St.: Darin Grover (177-145, 12th season)

- Coach Grover was the 2014-15 GAC Coach of the Year after leading his squad to a 20-10 record and GAC Tournament semifinal appearance

- Grover has led Southeastern to the NCAA Division II national tournament twice and amassed more than 240 wins between his time at Southeastern and NEO (Junior College)

Checking the Standings

- Harding ended Arkansas Tech's 10 game winning streak on Monday, extending their lead atop the GAC standings at 9-0 while Tech and Henderson State sit tied for second with 7-2 marks

- A half game separates Southeastern (6-3) and SWOSU (5-3) for fourth and fifth while Southern Nazarene holds an even record at 4-4 sitting in sixth

- Ouachita is in seventh at 4-5 and UAM and NWOSU are battling for the eighth postseason position with 3-6 slates

- SAU and ECU have 2-7 records and OKBU rounds out the standings with a 1-8 mark

SWOSU Notes

- In Monday night's 87-80 loss to Northwestern, SWOSU shot 35.8% from the field for their third lowest shooting percentage of the season and lowest since Arkansas Tech back on November 17 (35.3%) and Emporia State (31.1%) back on Nov. 12 before that

- Hailey Tucker posted her sixth double-double of the season after scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and now has posted back-to-back double-doubles for the first time since the first two games of the season

- Tucker is one of four players in the country to be leading her conference in both scoring and rebound categories

- Hayden Priddy scored a season-high 23 against the Rangers, surpassing her previous high of 22 scored against Lubbock Christian

- After spending all 40 minutes on the floor for the fifth time this season, Priddy now averages 36 minutes of game time per contest, ranking her second in the GAC

- Savannah Gray scored 13 for the Dawgs for her third-straight double digit scoring effort after never previously posting multiple 10+ scoring games in a row all season

- Tyra Aska will look to bounce back after having statistically her worst game of the season with a career high nine turnovers and career low four points

- SWOSU still leads the league in offense, averaging 79.4 points per game through 14 contests this season

Looking Ahead

- SWOSU will travel to Shawnee on Saturday to complete the first three conference game week of the season against Oklahoma Baptist

- The following week the Dawgs will host two Arkansas foes beginning with Harding on Thursday, Jan. 26 and then Arkansas Tech on Saturday, Jan. 28
