The hospital board met Tuesday evening and heard a financial report from CFO Kevin O'Brien concerning business in November 2016. The gross patient revenue for the month was $1,979,848, which was a $92,198 decrease compared to the prior month. The hospital decreased by $124,884, the nursing home increased by $31,065 and The Homestead increased by $1,621.

December business was up with gross patient revenue at $2,014,507, which was a $34,659 increase compared to the previous month. Changes in gross patient revenue were as follows: the hospital increased by $38,109, the nursing home increased by $11,421 and The Homestead decreased by $14,871.

Total patient days in December were 106, down from 119 in November. Total clinic office visits for December were 1,443 compared to 1,549 in November. Nursing home average daily census for December was 53.7 compared to 54.7 in November.

Salaries and wages for December totaled $523,735, which was an increase of $28,420, compared to the prior month. Net operating loss for December was $66,146, and after sales tax revenue was applied $16,337.

The medical center hired Alejandra Kasparie for the convalescent home in November, and Lonnie M. Lucero in The Homestead dietary in December.

Dr. Kenneth Brown, as a volunteer, has been completing patient survey satisfaction reports for inpatient, ER and Urgent Care. A total of 51 surveys have been completed.

The hospital is taking a look at a suggestion from People's Choice Hospital to perhaps offer reference lab services. Share Medical Center has made no decisions but is investigating if this could be a source of additional revenue. The new chemistry analyzer has arrived and is undergoing calibration tests and will be online in February.

Kandice Allen, CEO, reported, “We are now able to post Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare, Medicaid, Health Choice and Coventry remittance advices electronically in both E-Clinical Works and MediTech. This is a huge process improvement.”

The board approved the following credentialing appointments, all to the courtesy staff: Mark McCurry, MD – ER; Paul Briggs MD – ER; Allison Blanchard, MD – ER and Mikhail Lomize, DO – Telemedicine.
