TONKAWA – The Alva High School Goldbugs were matched up with the Newkirk Tigers yet again Thursday night as they faced off at the North Country Classic Tournament at Northern Oklahoma College.
Though the Tigers seemed to anticipate the Goldbugs better to start the first quarter, staying within one point for most of the period, Brooks Hadwiger quickly put some distance between Alva and Newkirk. After a left-wing three from Hadwiger, he quickly followed that with three straight layups off steals to put the Goldbugs ahead 22-13.
