No. 17 Harding Pounds it Inside, Defeats Southeastern

DURANT, Okla. – No. 17 Harding scored 17 of the first 19 points in the third quarter, erased a three-point halftime lead and completely controlled the paint in an 84-72 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday in Great American Conference play at Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

Harding improved to 23-3 with the victory, including 20-1 in conference games. It is the first time in program history that the Lady Bisons have won 20 conference games. Harding's win was its ninth straight and its 17th in the team's last 18 games.

Southeastern dropped to 16-9 overall and 14-7 in conference, falling for the ninth time in its last 10 games against Harding.

Harding trailed 35-32 at halftime, but opened the third quarter with a 17-2 run with 14 of those points coming in the paint. The Lady Bisons outscored the Savage Storm 28-11 in the quarter and led 60-46 entering the fourth.

Harding shot 63 percent from the field in the third and made 8-of-8 free throws. Southeastern was only 3-of-17 in the period.

Harding extended its lead to as many as 24 points in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Bisons outscored the Storm 44-14 in the paint and had a 41-32 rebound advantage.

Sydnie Jones led Harding with 17 points and had six rebounds. A'ndrea Haney scored 14 points and added five rebounds, five assists and four steals. Caroline Hogue also had 14 points, and Riley Rose scored 10.

Katie Webb led Southeastern with 22 points, 20 coming in the first half. Olivia Potter, Southeastern's leading scorer this season, had only two points, shooting 1-of-8 from the field, including 0-of-7 from 3-point range.

Harding plays its final regular season game Saturday against East Central in Ada, Oklahoma. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Kerr Activities Center.
