Tigers can't clinch series against SAU, lose two

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers' baseball team (11-23, 8-13 GAC) lost both games of Saturday's doubleheader against #11 Southern Arkansas (26-6, 19-2).

The Tigers faced a solid pitching performance in the first game and were only able to pick up two hits. The Muleriders opened the game with two runs in the second inning and cinched it with four sixth-inning runs. Two runs in the eighth gave the Muleriders a 8-0 win.

The second game looked like it would be a shootout early, but settled down as the game went on. Southern Arkansas opened the game with three runs in the top of the first inning, but Ouachita responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Jackson Noakes and JD Speed picked up RBI's in the inning. SAU took control of the game in the third inning when Josey Langston hit a three-run double to give the Muleriders a 6-2 lead. Neither team would score for the remainder of the seven-inning game.

The Tigers will play Tuesday, April 4, at home at 3 p.m., against Delta State in non-conference play before traveling to Arkansas-Montecello next weekend to resume conference play.
