Health students excel at contest

Health careers students from Northwest Technology Center in Alva participated in the state Health Careers Students of America (HOSA) contest this week in Norman. Several students qualified to move on to the national contest in June. Students participating included Rachel Becker, Riley Beeler, Stephanie Belt, Halah Canaan, Karlee Dietz, Crissa Edstrom, Brooklynn Faison, Calissa Fouts, Rochelle Galindo, Shanea Herren, Trishia Rodgers, Kimberly Stuck and Maira Zuniga. Beeler serves as a state officer for the HOSA group.

Becker, Belt, Dietz and Rodgers placed third in the Public Service Announcement event. Edstrom and Zuniga placed third in the Emergency Medical Team event. Edwards placed third in the Personal Care event. Faison placed third in Medical Photography. Galindo placed third in Life Support Skills and Fouts placed second in Life Support Skills. Brooke Meyer is their instructor.
