Clothes, knife found could be linked to body in duffel bag

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Investigators have found clothing and a knife that could be linked to the 2011 death of a 19-year-old Oklahoma woman whose dismembered remains were found stuffed in a duffel bag.
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents found the new evidence in Carina Saunders' case while searching an Oklahoma City property based on a tip, The Oklahoman (http://bit.ly/2o7UrnZ ) reported.
The search, which began April 11, uncovered a shirt, a windbreaker jacket, two slip-on sandals and a folding knife. The clothing and knife have been sent to a laboratory for forensic analysis. The investigation is ongoing.
Saunders' remains were found inside the bag behind a grocery store in Oklahoma County on Oct. 13, 2011.
Kenneth Richards, the former owner of the searched property, was interviewed on Oct. 14, 2011. According to court records, Richards said he and Saunders were together before her disappearance until he dropped her off at an apartment complex. Oklahoma County tax assessor records show Richards owned the property from February 1995 through June 2012.
Two men were charged in Saunders' death, but the charges were dismissed. No other charges have been filed.
Last year, the bureau announced it would offer a reward for information on Saunders' death.
The Bethany Police Department asked the bureau to take over the investigation more than a year after the death. Bureau agents and other law enforcement officials have followed multiple leads but haven't identified a suspect.
