Girl Scouts end-of-year and bridging ceremony

Girl Scouts with Woods Service Unit recently held their annual end-of-year and bridging ceremony at the Act 1 Building. In front of a very large crowd of family members, the scouts told everything they enjoyed doing this year in scouting, whether it was a badge activity, community service or fun activity. Girls ready to bridge to the next level of scouting also held their bridging ceremony.

The leaders and their assistants with Woods Service Unit were recognized for their leadership and commitment to the girls for this past year. As their thank you gift, the leaders received a Girl Scout travel mug recognizing the 100th year of selling cookies. The Alva leaders are Tammy Like, Mandi Whitely and Katie Church, kindergarten Daisy; Tammy Like and Mandi Whitely, first grade Daisy; Amber Maier and Kathi Jenlink, second grade Brownie; Amber Sandoval and Dawn Blackledge, third grade Brownie; Kathi Jenlink and Nancy Willis, third grade Brownie; Katie Church and Carissa Nusser, Juniors; Connie Anton and Magen Lehr, Cadettes; Tani Tanio and Amber Maier, Cadette/Seniors; Judy Neilson and Ruth Anne Fox; Senior/Ambasadors. Waynoka leaders are Jennifer Rich and Kara Durkee. The Burlington leaders are Cathy Vest and KyLee Corr. The Cherokee leaders are Amber Wilhite and Bridget Drew. The Timberlake leaders are Lacey Johnson and Charity McNary. The Girl Scout Hut coordinator is Steve Maier.

The service unit also recognized two leaders for the year who showed exemplary service to the team. Tammy Like was recognized as the leader of the year for taking on the Kindergarten and first grade Daisies together and Tani Tanio was recognized as the volunteer of the year for helping a couple troops earn their Journey badge.

After the ceremony, refreshments of cookies were served. The Girl Scout Council brought up their mobile shop for the girls to be able to spend their cookie money. Shopping for uniforms, T-shirts, dolls, jewelry, and trinkets were a huge hit.
