Alva Arena Authority meets, and then calls special meeting

August 11, 2017

The Alva Arena Authority met at noon Wednesday, Aug. 9, in the Alva State Bank Annex board room. The only business conducted in open session for the public was to approve the financial report by Todd Holder showing a bank account balance of $111,501.11.

After that, Holder moved to enter into executive session with Mike Hood seconding the motion. A roll call vote of the remaining members had Janet Cunningham, Greg Glass, Stan Kline, Daren Slater and Charles Tucker voting yes. Glen Calvert, Neal Williams and Sonja Williams were asked to remain. The minutes of the executive session said items discussed had to do with economic development, with the goal of enticing a business/company/project to remain, expand or locate within Woods County. The minutes said no other matters were discussed.

Also, the agenda listed reports from the following subcommittees' but none were presented: design, management/operations, location, and funding.

A special meeting has been called for Wednesday, Aug. 16, with an agenda almost identical to the Aug. 9 meeting. They will hear a treasurer's report and then go into executive session to discuss economic development. Also, the agenda calls for reports and possible actions from the four subcommittees: design, management, location, and funding.
