Volleyball Sweeps SNU in Bethany

BETHANY, Okla. – (HTML Stats) Oklahoma Baptist remains unbeaten in Great American Conference matches following a 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-22) sweep of Southern Nazarene at the Sawyer Center Thursday evening.

Trailing 18-20 in the first set, the Lady Bison (8-7, 3-0 GAC) closed out the set on a 7-1 run to take an early 1-0 lead. Nicole Fleitman picked up two kills and assisted on two blocks in the final stretch. Three separate spurts of four straight points from OBU in the second set allowed the Lady Bison to cruise to an 11-point win. Oklahoma Baptist overcame a five-point deficit in the third set to seal the victory.

The Crimson Storm (6-7, 1-1 GAC) were held in check offensively, posting a .000 attack percentage. GAC kills-leader Bailee Turang was held to single-digit kills for just the third time this season, finishing with eight kills.

Setter Hayden Blair was once again able to get multiple attackers involved, with three players leading the team with eight kills each. Freshman Malia Leatherland picked up eight kills and 13 digs, Fleitman added eight kills and four total blocks and Cadyn Laing finished with eight kills and 14 digs. Blair had 24 assists and Suzanny Figueiredo paced the Lady Bison with 15 digs.

OBU returns to the Noble Complex for just the second time this season to host East Central on Sept. 26 in a GAC tilt at 7 p.m.
