Sutherland's Hat Trick Leads Lady Bison Soccer to Victory

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Bethany Sutherland scored her second hat trick of the season in the Harding women's soccer teams 3-2 victory at Southwestern Oklahoma Thursday in Great American Conference action.

Harding improves to 3-4-2 overall and 2-1-0 in the GAC.

Southwestern Oklahoma falls to 4-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the GAC.

Bethany Sutherland is the career leader at Harding with the most hat tricks with four. It is the first time in her career she has had two in a season. It was the second hat trick against Southwestern Oklahoma. Chelsea Brandon scored three in 2008. The Lady Bisons have a 22-0-0 record when they score a hat trick.

GOALS

Southwestern Oklahoma 1, Harding 0 – 24th minute – Sarah Wilson found Olivia Butler who found the back of the net.

Harding 1, Southwestern Oklahoma 1 – 35th minute – Bethany Sutherland found the back of the net for her sixth goal of the season.

Harding 2, Southwestern Oklahoma 1 – 54th minute – Bethany Sutherland scored from the middle of the box.

Harding 3, Southwestern Oklahoma 1 – 73rd minute – Michelle Morgan sent a cross from the right side of the box that found Bethany Sutherland for her eighth goal of the season.

Harding 3, Southwestern Oklahoma 2 – 78th minute – Lauren Williams found the back of the net off a free kick.

STATS

Southwestern Oklahoma took 20 shots, 10 were on goal. Sandra Nabweteme led the team with 10 shots, three were on goal.

Harding had 15 shots, six were on goal. Bethany Sutherland took four shots, three were on goal.

Jessica Woessner and Anna Claire Lewis split time in the net for Harding. Each had four saves.

Harding will continue GAC action Saturday when it travels to Alva, Oklahoma to face Northwestern Oklahoma at 11 a.m.
