Slow Start Costly for Bulldogs at Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY – SWOSU Volleyball had their two-game winning streak ended in non-conference action at Oklahoma City University on Tuesday evening. The Bulldogs dropped the first set and won the second before OCU closed it out with wins in the third and fourth sets.

SWOSU hit .132 for the match with 42 kills while Oklahoma City had a massive advantage with 67 kills and a .211 attack percentage. OCU also had the advantage in digs (97-to-84), blocks (10-to-4) and service aces (10-to-4) which led to the Stars scoring 37 more points than the Bulldogs in the match (87-to-50).

Leading the Bulldogs offensively were Addie Aman and Danusia Sipa Borgeaud with 10 kills apiece while DeLayni Fine chipped in nine. The other eight players to see the floor for SWOSU combined for 13 kills and 10 hitting errors in the match.

Reigning GAC Defensive Player of the Week Kaitlyn Dillon led the Dawgs with 23 digs while a trio of other Bulldogs also reached double figures in the category. Kodee Avery had a team-best 35 assists while Sofia Gruden led SWOSU with three blocks.

SWOSU Volleyball (6-13) returns to action on Friday evening with a conference matchup against Southern Arkansas starting at 6:00 pm inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
