Tiger Soccer Ties Union

JACKSON, Ark. – The Ouachita Baptist men's soccer team (6-7-1) tied Union (3-11-1) Thursday night 1-1 in a non-conference match.

The Tigers hit in the go-ahead goal with just 40 second remaining in the match. Tyler Mouton hit a header past the Bulldog keeper to put Ouachita up 1-0. Blake Beshirs picked up his first assist on the goal.

Ouachita gave up the equalizing goal seconds later as Union hit in its lone goal of the game with just 28 seconds before the end of the second period.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in either overtime period and settled for a tie.

The Tigers finished the match with 15 shots and five on goal. Ouachita keepers Matt Gutierrez and Edward Pacheco held off a barrage of shots from the Bulldogs, savingnine of the 10 shots placed on goal. Pacheco made the start, picking up four saves, and was replaced in the second half by Gutierrez, who came away with four saves.

Ouachita will close out the regular season this Saturday, Oct. 28 in Memphis against Christian Brothers. The non-conference game is set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
