Tigers can't keep up with UAFS in second half

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Despite only a one-point halftime deficit, the Ouachita Tigers' men's basketball team fell to fifth-ranked UA-Fort Smith by a final score of 85-70 in the UA-Fort Smith Classic Friday evening.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair which featured six lead changes, and the Tigers held a lead for the opening stages of the second half as well. A layup with 15:38 remaining, however, gave UA-Fort Smith a 46-45 lead, and the Lions never looked back.

Ouachita had three players score in double-digits. Jontavis Willis and Jordan Cortbitt scored 13 points each, while Matt Stanley scored 11 points. The Tigers made 11 three-pointers in the game, but a 35 percent conversion rate was not enough to keep them in the game in the second half.

Ouachita will continue play in the UA-Fort Smith Classic Saturday against Rogers State.
