Bugs battle Panthers for third place

ENID, Okla. – The Alva Goldbugs (8-2) took home third place at the Wheat Capital Tournament on Saturday as they handed Pond Creek-Hunter its third loss of the season, 72-67. Pond Creek entered the tournament ranked No. 3 in Class A.

Alva returns to action Thursday evening at Newkirk for an 8 p.m. start, then heads to Blackwell on Saturday afternoon. Tip against the Maroons is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Mitchel Meyer scored a season high 27 points to lead Alva, the team scoring its highest output of the season. Ethan Flynt added 18 in the victory, his career high.
