Reddies Complete GAC Sweep of Southern Nazarene

Henderson State completed a three-game sweep of Southern Nazarene as the Reddies beat the Crimson Storm 9-8 and 9-3, Saturday in Bethany, Oklahoma.

In the opener, Henderson collected a season-best 16 hits with Nolan Ryan leading the way going 4-for-5 with two runs scored and a pair of runs batted in.

Taylor Langston had the big hit of the game with a three-run double in the fourth-inning. Langston was 3-for-6 with three runs scored in the contest.

Dylan McCain went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Brandon Pollock, Brentten Schwaab and Zack Graycollected two hits each.

Kris Priddy picked up the win on the mound going 6 1/3 innings while striking out four batters to improve to 2-0 on the year.

Southern Nazarene made things interesting scoring four runs in the seventh-inning to make it a one run game, but Jordan Harris pitched 1 2/3 innings of shutout baseball while Langston entered the ninth and held the Crimson Storm at bay to pick up the save.

In the finale, Zach Eschberger picked up a complete-game win on the mound to improve to 1-1 on the year. Eschberger gave up six hits and struck out six batters.

Henderson, 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the Great American Conference, built a 7-0 lead before SNU got on the board in the fifth-inning.

The Reddies totaled nine hits in the game with Pollock going 2-for-5 with a run batted in.

McCain added a RBI double, with Gray also having a double and Harris a two-run single in the seventh to put the game away.

Henderson will break from conference action when the Reddies travel to Magnolia, Ark. on Tuesday to face Southern Arkansas with the first pitch set for 6 p.m.
