SWOSU Softball Swept at No. 8 Southern Arkansas

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – No. 8-ranked Southern Arkansas handled the Bulldog Softball team on Saturday, handing SWOSU a pair of losses to sweep the Great American Conference series 4-0.

SWOSU (1-23, 1-15 GAC) returns to action on Wednesday with a non-conference doubleheader against Cameron. First pitch is set for 1:00 pm in Lawton.

SAU scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to push the game to the brink of a run rule, but SWOSU staved off that attempt for the next two innings but were unable to come from behind. SAU got on the board first and led 3-0 heading into the fifth, when the Dawgs got on the board with an RBI single from Rileigh Ricken scored Hannah Morris.

SWOSU managed just four hits in the game while SAU had nine hits and committed one error. Ricken (0-9) suffered the loss after allowing six runs on six hits over 4.1 innings.

SWOSU scored first, getting an RBI single from Kinsey Skroh in the top of the first, and added a run on an RBI single from Hannah Morris in the second, but the Lady Muleriders plated all 13 of their runs in the first three frames and ran away with the series finale.

Morris was the bright spot for the Bulldogs, finishing 3-for-3 with one run scored and an RBI while Amanda Moreno, Skroh, Bella Garcia and Hannah Franklin each had hits as well. Miranda Grover (0-5) took the loss after giving up five runs on eight hits with three walks in the first two innings.
