Margie Lou was born on March 3, 1931, in Cherokee, Oklahoma, to Frank and Nancy (Sallee) Straw. She passed away at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Enid, Oklahoma, on March 23, 2018, at the age of 87 years and 12 days.

She attended school at Short Springs, Oklahoma, and received her diploma. After high school she then began working for Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator.
