Southeastern Bounces Back with 8-1 Win

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern got back in the win column in a big way on Thursday afternoon, downing Henderson State 8-1 at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 7-11 overall on the year and 4-1 in Great American Conference play.

Luisa Auffarth and Maria Martinez avenged a one doubles loss by cruising to an 8-1 win over HSU's Thea Minor and Mariah Bartlett to make the match 1-1.

India Shiaelis and Diana Budnik would put the Storm in front 2-1 with an 8-4 win over Lorraine Banimataku and Lorish Puluspene and SE would not look back.

Alexsandra Reljic picked up a win over Annie Shannon at the top singles position, 6-3, 6-3 to stretch the lead to 3-1.

Aufarth followed at two singles with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Minor to push the lead to 4-1.

Shiaelis would clinch the match with a come-from-behind victory at the three position over Sydnee Parker, winning 6-7, 6-2, 10-8.

Chiera Berg added a comeback win of her own at the four spot over Banimataku, going 6-2, 106, 10-7.

Nina Sergeev checked in with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Bartlett in the five spot, with Budnik closing out the 8-1 win with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Lauren Miller in the sixth position.
