Southeastern Men Take Home GAC Title

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – No. 32 Southeastern opened up with a pair of doubles wins and never looked back en route to its second Great American Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday, downing Harding 5-3 in Bentonville, Ark.

The Savage Storm improve to 12-7 overall on the year and will now await word on its regional hopes as they entered the tournament fourth in the Central region, with the top four advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

Matias Vargas and Milos Vuckovic picked up an 8-2 win in the three position to put SE on the board, but a loss at one doubles would even the match at 1-1.

Danrich Kruger and Sandro Lena would salvage the lead with an 8-6 win at the two position to head to singles play with a 2-1 lead in the match.

Harding would even the match at 2-2 with a win by retirement, but Jeremy Despont would cruise to a 6-1, 6-1 win at the six positon over Pablo Trevino to go ahead 3-2.

Carlos Anez followed up with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Carlos Crisostomo to stretch the lead to 4-2.

The Bisons would pick up a win at the six spot, but Vargas would clinch the Storm victory at the number five position with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win over Adria Abella to make the final score 5-3.
