Police file numerous accident reports

Alva police have worked a number of accidents in recent weeks. On June 29 a parked vehicle received damage from an unknown vehicle overnight. Clayton Alan Phillips reported his 2015 Ford F15 was parked at 214 Church St. He told Officer Sean Farris he was asleep inside when the damage occurred and did not see it until the next morning when going to work. The unknown driver stuck the pickup just behind the front driver headlight and scraped down the entire side and bed of the vehicle before leaving the scene.

Another individual reported damage to a parked vehicle on June 29. Noah Michael McOsker did not find the damage until the afternoon but was told by neighbors they saw the damage approximately 8 a.m. The 1995 GMC SK2 was parked at 1129 Second St. when an eastbound vehicle struck the passenger side taillight and scraped down the entire passenger side of the vehicle before leaving the scene. Officer Sean Farris also investigated this damage.

Officer Farris went to the scene of another collision on June 29 at 3:10 p.m. at Center and Second. Megan Riley Pharis, 17, of Alva was driving a 2008 Daimler east on Center Street. She proceeded into the intersection with Second Street from the stop and struck a southbound 2016 GMC Canyon driven by Hannah Paige O’Neil, 18, of Alva. Farris noted there was shrubbery to the left that could have obscured the view of Pharis. However, a witness at the scene said he didn’t see Pharis stop at the stop sign.

On Sunday, July 8, at 7 p.m. police investigated a collision at Oklahoma Boulevard east of Seiling. The report by Officer William Shahan says Tia Tishia McGuire, 25, of Alva was exiting a private drive to travel west on Oklahoma Boulevard. She was driving a 2010 Cadillac. Michael Edward Sterling, 39, of Purcell was traveling east on Oklahoma Boulevard driving a 2016 Ford F350. McGuire said another vehicle was turning right into the private drive. As that vehicle began to make the turn, McGuire began to exit the drive, not seeing Sterling’s vehicle. McGuire pulled into the roadway and her vehicle was struck by Sterling’s.

On Wednesday, July 4, at 11 a.m. an accident was reported in the 1000 block of Maple Street. Hannah Jo Arnold, 16, of Alva was backing from a private drive on the north side of Maple Street. Arnold failed to notice that a 2006 Chevrolet owned by Patrick D. Kipp of Alva was legally parked on the south side of the street. The Arnold vehicle backed into the Kipp vehicle causing damage to the hood and driver side front fender. According to the police report, Arnold left the scene without making an attempt to notify the owner of the parked vehicle or exchange insurance information. Arnold returned to the scene in another vehicle after a friend called her and informed the owner of the vehicle what had happened to the parked car. Officer Sean Farris investigated.
