MAGNOLIA, Ark. – After earning a season-opening victory two weeks ago at the GAC Preview, the Southern Arkansas Men's Golf team is looking to build off of that early success as they head to Monkey Island, Oklahoma, for the Missouri Southern Fall Invitational at the Shangri-La Country Club & Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday, September 24 and 25.

Five golfers will make the trip for the Muleriders' second tournament of their fall schedule. Senior Kevin Elder along with juniors Calum Graham and Kade Johnson, and sophomores Roman Timmerman and Kyle West will compete in the two-day tournament.

In the team's season-opening win, Southern Arkansas set a new low 54 hole program record with a 35-under, 829; 18 shots better than the previous record. The Muleriders were led by Timmerman and Johnson who recorded second and third place finishes respectively to lead the team to its third tournament victory under fourth-year head coach Ben Sanders.

Additionally at the GAC Preview, 13 of the combined 15 rounds of golf played by the Muleriders' five ranked golfers were shot under par. Those five golfers are the same five hitting the links on Monday morning.

Southern Arkansas, picked seventh in the Great American Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, will look to continue to work past those expectations and grow from their early successes as they prepare for quality competition on a solid, challenging course.

"We have the talent and senior leadership that's needed to excel," remarked Sanders.
