Volleyball: Storm Tripped Up at UAM

MONTICELLO, Okla. – Southeastern got 15 kills from Abby Jameson and posted 17 service aces as a team but were unable to pick up a win to open its two-game road swing, falling at Arkansas-Monticello 3-2 on Friday evening in Monticello, Ark.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 6-16 overall on the season and 2-8 in Great American Conference play heading into a 1 p.m. matchup with Southern Arkansas in Magnolia, Ark.

Jameson's 15 kills matched the match-high, while Hallie Smith and Arianna baker were next in line with eight kills each.

The Storm finished with 43 kills on the match but suffered the wrath of 37 errors and finished the contest hitting .035.

Sydney Meget turned in a team-best 30 assists, while Jodi Dixon added nine. Meget also turned in 10 digs, while Dixon chipped in seven.

Caitlin Cosby led the Storm defense with 21 digs, while Jaclyn Menner added 14 and Taylor Robinson turned in 11.

At the net, Baker turned in her best blocking effort of the season with nine total blocks, with Jameson adding four.

SE rallied from a 24-22 deficit in the first set to take six of the final eight points and open a 1-0 lead with a 28-26 set win.

UAM answered by taking sets two and three 25-23 and 25-18 to open up a 2-1 lead.

Southeastern bounced back in the fourth set and once again used bonus volleyball to earn a 26-24 win to even the match at 2-2.

In the fifth set the Storm fell behind 11-5 and rallied to tie the score at 11 before the Cotton Blossoms took the final four points to win the set 15-11 to take the match 3-2.
