October 17, 2018

WACO, Texas – For the third time this season, Rogers State's junior Nick Williams was named the Heartland Conference Men's Runner of the Week. Williams earned the honor for this week as announced by the Heartland office on Tuesday (Oct. 16) morning.

Williams, a junior from Sapulpa, Okla., paced the Hillcats at the FHSU Tiger Open on Saturday, running a time of 26:30 in the 8-kilometer race. Williams placed 73rd overall in a field of 154 NCAA Division I and II runners on the muddy and wet course at Sand Plum Nature Trail in Victoria, Kan. The Hillcats finished the meet 14th overall as a team.

This is Williams' third weekly award this season. He was named the league runner of the week before on Sept. 18 and Sept. 4. The navy and red men's cross country team has won the award each time they have competed this season as senior Seth Whittington was named runner of the week on Oct. 2.

The Hillcats return to action at the Heartland Conference Championship on Nov. 3 in Laredo, Texas, hosted by Texas A&M International.
