January 4, 2019

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – For the second straight season, the SWOSU Women's Basketball team has put together a 10-game win streak after taking down Arkansas-Monticello 79-53 on Thursday evening at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.

The Lady Bulldogs – ranked #21 in the latest D2SIDA Media Poll – improve to 10-1 on the year with the victory while continuing their hot start to Great American Conference play at 5-0.

After trailing in the early going, SWOSU used a 23-0 run that spanned the final 4:05 of the first quarter and stretched until the 5:15 mark of the second to gain the upper hand on UAM. The Lady Bulldogs turned a 10-7 deficit into a 30-10 advantage and never looked back, leading by double digits the remainder of the game.

Seven different players scored for the Lady Dawgs, led by Hailey Tucker, who finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds while also filling up the stat sheet with four assists and four steals. Hayden Priddy chipped in 16 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals while Tyra Aska also had an active night with 13 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.

SWOSU's other two starters – Taylor Hedrick and Bethany Franks – combined for 15 points, with Franks pulling down another eight rebounds to add to her team-leading total. Dovile Strimaitye also neared a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds off the bench while Maddie Sperle added five points and three assists in 16 minutes of run.

"I thought our defense really set the tone in the first half, we were active and forcing turnovers which allowed us to build our lead and have success offensively," SWOSU Head Coach Kelsi Musick said following the game. "I think we showed some grit and determination tonight, which we needed against a physical opponent like UAM, and our bench really picked us up when a couple of our starters got in foul trouble."

The Lady Bulldogs wrap up their current four-game home stand on Saturday afternoon as they welcome Southern Arkansas to the Pioneer Cellular Event Center for a 1:00 pm tipoff.
