SNU brings in multiple top-10 finishes in second meet of indoor season

NORMAN, Okla. — Southern Nazarene's track and field teams were in action Saturday at the UCO Open at the University of Oklahoma, and the Crimson Storm recorded multiple top-10 finishes at the meet.

Sophomore Kaley Knox highlighted the action in Norman on the women's side, as she finished fifth in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:00.84. Senior Kyra Fuller placed seventh in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:33.15, while Kaitlyn Janka took eighth in the 800-meters with a time of 2:32.70. Also competing in the 800-meters was Sophia Weisbruch who placed 12th (2:34.76), Madalyn Harper in 13th (2:35.21), Rachel Hurtz in 18th (2:37.41) and Lauren Stitt in 30th (2:42.84).

Cieara Roberts brought home another top-10 finish in her decorated career as she finished 10th in the 200-meters with a time of 27.12, while Abrianna Drake came in 18th at 27.99. Others competing in the 200-meters were Breanna Brice at 20th (28.05), Satori Adams in 26th (28.47), and Dajia Davis in 40th (29.85). Megann Wortmann finished 10th in the 60-meter hurdles while Madison Converse finished right behind her in 11th in the same event.

To round out the women's side, SNU's 4X400 relay team of Knox, Drake, Fuller, and Janka finished fourth in their section while the team of Davis, Bryce, Converse, and Rebecca Warden finished first in their section.

The Crimson Storm men's team also had a very strong showing at the event as Christian Escritt recorded the highest finish of the day for SNU in the 800-meters as he brought home second place with a time of 1:58.52.

Senior Andra Richardson had a top-five finish in the 400-meters as he placed fourth with a time of 51.46, while Jeremy Mason finished 16th in the same event at 54.60. In the 200-meters, Xzavion Hunter highlighted the action with a sixth place finish at 23.02, while Ta'Shun Richardson and Reece Watson finished 27th and 28th, respectively. Watson also competed in the 60-meter run and finished 11th with a time of 7.09.

Aaron Brinegar finished 18th in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:38.28, while Jackson Witt placed 20th in the same event at 4:38.96.

To round out the men's side, SNU's 4X400 relay team of T. Richardson, A. Richardson, Myles Anderson, and Hunter finished first in their section while the team of Jacob Gutierrez, Dillon Joyce, Mason and Watson placed second in their section.

Southern Nazarene will take next weekend off before returning to action on February 8-9 at the Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kansas hosted by Pitt State.
