February 10, 2019

BETHANY, Okla. – Cierra Rangel exploded for 18 second-half points, but Southeastern's second-half rally would fall short in a 54-46 loss to Southern Nazarene on Saturday afternoon in Bethany, Okla.

The Savage Storm drop to 11-9 overall on the season and 9-7 in Great American Conference play.

Rangel led all scorers with 18 points hitting a trio of threes and going 9-of-11 at the free throw line, all in the second half.

Briley Moon added 15 with three threes as well, while Alix Robinson finished with seven.

Moon led the way on the boards with seven, while Tracy Johnson added five.

SE fell in an 8-0 hole to open the game and the offense would come slowly to start as SNU took a 24-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Storm would close the gap to 11 points in the second quarter but still found points tough to come by as The Crimson Storm would pull out to a 36-18 halftime lead.

SE found its offense to open the second half, reeling off a 19-2 run capped by a Rangel free throw to close the gap to just one point at 38-37.

The Storm would stay close and a pair of Rangel free throws with 1:26 to play in the third would knot the game at 40-40, but SNU would take a 42-41 lead to the fourth quarter.

After the SE scoring explosion in the third, neither team would score the ball for the first three and a half minutes of the fourth before the Crimson Storm hit a layup, which was immediately answered by a Johnson jumper.

SNU would put together seven-straight points to open up a 51-43 lead with 4:25 to play.

Unfortunately, SE was unable to close that gap and fell by a final of 54-46.
