Kansas' Quindaro Ruins on brink of historical designation

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — The Quindaro Ruins in Kansas City are on the brink of receiving a historical designation that will help preserve the Civil War-era port of entry into Kansas and stop along the Underground Railroad.

Congress voted to give Quindaro a national commemorative site designation as part of a massive public lands package approved Tuesday. The legislation is now headed to President Donald Trump's desk, the Kansas City Star reported.
