Woman accused of forging Kansas banker's will pleads guilty


WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A north-central Kansas woman has admitted in court to mailing a faked modified will of a Kansas banker that would have given her half of his $20 million estate.

The Wichita Eagle reports that 66-year-old Wanda Oborny, of Hays, pleaded guilty Friday to one count of mail fraud. She had originally been charged with seven counts.

Federal prosecutors say in a news release that they will recommend Oborny serve probation and donate money to Fort Hays State University, which is where banker Earl Field bequeathed the vast majority of his estate.
